How You Can Help Spread Solar

If you want to get involved, we’ve listed a few ways below to spread solar through 1BOG. Have other ideas? Talk to us.

Talk to your neighbors
Talking with your neighbors is the most effective thing you can do in letting people know about 1BOG. One of the reasons we’re able to offer great discounts to our members is that they tend to cluster in neighborhoods. This makes it easier and more efficient for solar installers to evaluate homes and and complete solar installation jobs. Watch our video about how 1BOG creates home solar panel discounts.
Emails
It’s really easy to tell your friends about 1BOG online. Just use our tell-a-friend page to invite your friends individually, or upload your contacts to mass email them (we’ll never use the email addresses you enter unless your friends sign up). We have a few examples of the types of emails you can send. These can also be posted for groups on discussion boards, blogs, and websites.

A few sample Emails Collected from 1BOG Customers

I’m a Chico homeowner and I’d like to have the benefit of cheaper utility bills by putting solar energy to work on my home. But the installation of solar panels has seemed prohibitively expensive, and who can you trust to do the job? http://1bog.org/

One Block Off the Grid can help with that. 1BOG forms cooperative groups of homeowners in cities across the U.S. When a city has 100 to 150 households registered (at no cost or obligation) they guide the group through the process. They find the contractor, arrange for everyone to have a site study, get the bids and then they negotiate with the contractor and the suppliers to get the best deal for the group. Then group members can decide to participate or not.

If nothing else, check out their website. Now is a great time for residential solar because the federal and state incentives have never been better.

Dear Neighbors,

I heard about the group “One Block Off the Grid” from an email, and checked it out online. They are gathering names of people who are interested in installing solar systems on their homes. Just as with anything, if you have numbers, you can negotiate HUGE discounts, which they have done in some neighborhoods already. They have now negotiated a deal for a much larger area, and we can benefit. If you are interested, go to 1bog.org. You can read about it and sign up if you like. In addition, the more people that sign up, the better the deal will end up being. I’ve signed up, and am really excited about it.
